Melinda Diane Fischer (née Dempsey), born on March 27, 1956, passed away on June 12, 2025, in Lakeland, FL. She was a loving wife, sister, friend, daughter, aunt, and great aunt, known for her warmth and caring nature.

Melinda retired from the United States Postal Service, where she dedicated many years of service. Her hobbies included worshipping our Lord, reading, assembling puzzles, walking, riding her bike, and visiting theme parks, activities that brought joy not only to her but also to those around her.

She is survived by her husband, Brian Fischer; brother, Steve Dempsey and his wife Tracy; nephew Shane Dempsey; niece Danielle Tinsley and her husband Bear; and nephew Skye Dempsey and his partner Savannah, along with their baby Avery. Melinda was preceded in death by her father, Barney Donald Dempsey, Jr.; mother, Emily Ruth Boswell; and brother, Don Dempsey.

A memorial service will be held at 1 PM on July 5th, 2025, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lakeland, FL. An additional service will take place in South Carolina for friends and family back home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite animal shelter, rescue, zoo, or wild animal park.
