Obituary

Mary E. Snyder A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, and sister passed away on January 9, 2026, at the age of 85. Mary had been a resident of Spring Hill, Florida for the last 5 years, having lived in Lakeland, Florida, and Belmopan, Belize.

Married on April 27, 1968, to Harley Snyder. They adopted their son Trevor in 1970, their daughter Dawn in 1972, and birthed their son Randal in 1975.

Mary was a member of Hope Community Bible Church in Spring Hill.  She had dedicated her life to following Christ's example. She served as a missionary to Bangladesh facilitating adoptions around the world, and in Haiti, she worked as a nurse treating tuberculosis patients. Her passion for service continued as a drug addictions specialist in North Carolina and extended into retirement where she played an integral role in the Hedges drug addiction program in Belmopan, Belize. Even into her eighties Mary maintained her participation in service of Jesus' teachings by working with charities for the homeless and had begun with a troubled youth program at the time of her death. Throughout, Mary was grounded by her faith and bound to the community she found through church, be it in Lakeland, Florida, Charlotte, North Carolina, Belmopan, Belize, or her final church community in Spring Hill, Florida. She found great joy in travelling to see her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, watching them grow and learn.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Snyder, her father Lloyd Cressman, her mother Gladys Grove, stepfather Aaron Grove, and her sister Ruth Evelyn Jutzi.

She will be missed by her brother David Lloyd Cressman, son Trevor Snyder (Katie Nelson), son Randal Snyder, daughter Dawn Snyder-Volk (Tim Volk), grandchildren Vanessa, Veronica, Sommer, Aaron, and Perris; great grandchildren Jandiel, Davis, JoJo, Remy, Boby, and Harley, as well as her nephews Mike Cressman and Jeff Cressman.

Mary was loved by all and will be deeply missed.
