Mary Ann Keen

“A True Southern Lady”

Mary was born September 18, 1930 in Danielsville, Georgia to the late Youlis C. Haynie and Nellie G. Haynie. She passed away in Lakeland, Florida on September 1, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Doucie Mae Long, Willie T. Haynie and Maclin Normane. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Gardner (Geoffrey); and she lovingly leaves behind many beloved family members and close friends to carry on her memory.

Mary was a longtime resident of Lakeland. She was married to Leon Keen for a wonderful 56 years until he passed in 2008. Her family has always been her “pride and precious joy”. She loved them deeply and enjoyed every moment shared with each one.

She was fiercely independent and continued to live, in her home, by herself, until the last few months of her life. Over the last ten years, her dog, Tillie, became the love of her days and she enjoyed spoiling her.

She passed peacefully at Good Shepherd Hospice House. We are so very grateful for the tender loving care and comfort that she received during her times there.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 11, 2026 from 9:30 am – 10 am at Lakes Church Chapel, 1010 E Memorial Blvd. Lakeland, FL 33801. Funeral services will follow at 10 am at the church. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Burial Park.
