Remembering Mary Helen Harper
Mary Helen Harper was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was filled with music, laughter, faith, and family.
A homemaker who dedicated much of her life to raising her children, Mary Helen had a special love for children of all ages. To the generations of kids who loved her, she was Mamma, Aunt Honey, Grandma, Maw Maw, Great Maw Maw, and Gma.
She volunteered at her children's school, sharing her time, kindness, and enthusiasm with everyone. She was a big hit at the school Halloween carnival because she loved dressing up in memorable costumes. Later, she became a tutor through AmeriCorps and shared her love of reading with many more students.
She had a wonderful way of making everyone feel special and turning ordinary moments into cherished memories. One phrase she passed down to her children and grandchildren was, “We're making memories together!”
Mary Helen loved music, singing, dancing, and playing the piano. She had a playful spirit, an unforgettable sense of humor, and a gift for bringing laughter into the lives of those around her. Her strong Christian faith was a constant throughout her life, and she believed deeply in the power of prayer.
As her family grew, she continued sharing her love, laughter, and traditions with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured for generations.
Mary Helen shared more than 50 years with her husband. She often said he was the best husband she could ever have had and that she hoped she would never have to live a day without him.
She will be remembered for her faith, her laughter, and the joy she brought to her family and friends. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the love and memories she leaves behind will remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
Funeral services will take place on Friday November 6, 2026, at Mt.Tabor Baptist Church in Lakeland. Visitation will begin at 10AM followed by a chapel service at 11AM.
