Mary Arlene
Collins
October 25, 1946 – October 8, 2025
Mary Arlene (Hintsala) Collins born October 25th, 1946 went to be with her savior on October 8th, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was born and raised in Marquette, Michigan by her devoted parents John and Lydia (Wainionpaa) Hintsala.
Alongside her brother Ralph, she spent her early years finding joy in all the world had to offer. This is also when she developed her strong and never wavering faith in our Lord and His protection which she freely and lovingly shared with everyone around her.
As a devoted teacher for 33 years with Eaton Rapids Public Schools, Mary found her passion in passing on her love of all creatures great and small to her science students. When she retired, she continued teaching her children, many grandchildren and friend's children to also love and care for the world they lived in.
There wasn't ever a "munchkin" that felt alone when she was around. Her generosity could be seen throughout her many endeavors. Mary helped build homes for those in need with Habitat for Humanity. She also hand-sewed personalized quilts for all her family members so they could have a much-needed hug when she wasn't around.
Many other quilts were donated by her to her church and organizations so that others could also receive comfort when in need. These are but a couple of examples of how she shared her love and compassion for the world. Her heart knew no bounds.
Mary is survived in life by her much beloved family: husband of 41 years David, their children Lisa, Sara (David), & Karista (Justin), grandchildren Katie (Colin), Reagan (Andrew), Grant (Ann-Marie), Phelan, Claire, Thorin, & Forrest, and great grandchildren Macrina, Marty, & Kassi will always know of and feel her spirit within them.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and brother. In lieu of flowers, Mary (in life) requested that donations be made to the youth group at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lakeland, Florida. The family requests that in her memory, you always remember you are "Too blessed to be stressed."
