In Loving Memory of Martha “Lucille” Mills

Martha “Lucille” Mills, age 94, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a lifetime of love, cherished memories, and a family who will forever carry her in their hearts.

To many who knew and loved her, she was simply “Granny.” That name meant so much more than a title. It represented the love, warmth, kindness, and care she gave so freely to her family and everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Lucille was a lifelong member of Kathleen Baptist Church.

Lucille loved her family dearly and treasured the time they spent together. She especially enjoyed quilting, cooking, and traveling with her family. She had a special gift for quilting and spent countless hours creating beautiful quilts, many of which she lovingly gifted to family and friends throughout the years. Those quilts will continue to be treasured as beautiful reminders of the love she put into everything she did.

Family was at the heart of Lucille’s life. She created memories that will be carried on for generations, from family meals and gatherings to travels and everyday moments spent together.

Lucille will be lovingly remembered by her children, David Mills (Renee), Alan Mills (Tami) & Marilyn Allen (David).

Her grandchildren are Sarah Hudgins (Isaac), Sheryl Beal (Michael), Cory Mills (Breanna), Chad Mills, Stephanie Coggins (Larry) & Kim Parker.

She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Cash and Cason Beal, Arya and Willow Hudgins, Bryson, Brody & Caden Mills, Taylor and Logan Parker, and Kyle Coggins.

She is survived by her brother, Robert Lott, and her sisters, Francis Butrico and Betty Brown.

Lucille held a particularly special place in the hearts of her nieces and nephews, who loved her dearly. She was more than an aunt to them. She was someone whose love and kindness they could always count on and whose presence made family gatherings and memories even more special. The love she gave her nieces and nephews was returned many times over, and the memories they shared with their beloved Aunt Lucille will remain in their hearts forever.

Lucille was preceded in death by her loving husband, J.D. Mills, her parents, Daniel and Vella Lott, and her siblings, Pauline Wilson, J.D. Lott, Eugene Lott, and Faye Ekbladh, and her late daughter-in-law, Sharon Mills.

Though our hearts are broken by her loss, we are grateful for the 94 years we were blessed to have Lucille in our lives. Her love will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and all those who were fortunate enough to call her family and friend.

Her hands may no longer be quilting, her kitchen may be quiet, and we may no longer hear her voice—but the love she stitched into the lives of so many will remain forever.

We find comfort in knowing she will spend eternity with her Lord and Savior.

Granny, we hope you know how deeply you were loved, how much you will be missed, and how you will forever remain a part of our hearts.
