LAKELAND - Mrs. Lois Jean McCarthy passed away Friday, December 11, 2015. She was born January 30, 1935, in Essex City, New Jersey to Raymond and Marian (Hoffman) Schorn. Lois moved to Lakeland in 2003, from New Jersey. She was preceded in death by her husband, James McCarthy; brothers, Richard and Robert Schorn. Survivors include her cousins, Chuck Hoffman and Patricia Nelson; sister-in-law, Alice Getz; niece, Karen Nelson; nephew, Kevin Nelson; and her beloved dog, Charlie. The visitation will be Wednesday, December 16, 2015, from 10:00AM-11:00AM at the Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home at Serenity Gardens, 3350 Mall Hill Drive. Funeral services will follow at 11:00AM. The family would also like to invite everyone to join them for a reception immediately following the service at the funeral home's reception room.
