Leila Borg Lakeland – Leila Borg, 88, passed away Oct. 16, 2019. Leila was born in Cullowhee, North Carolina on July 12, 1931 to the late Luther and Catherine Phillips. She was a homemaker and longtime member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Leila was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Borg; and siblings, Alma Henson, Edsel Phillips, Clark Phillips, Ramona Brown, Gordon Phillips and Commodore Phillips. She is survived by her children, Terri (Jim) Mastropietro, Kathy (Bob) Huckabee and Michael Borg; 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday, October 18, 2019 from 1 pm to 1:30 pm, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 pm at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Lakeland. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice.
