Hello my name is Ed and I am An alcoholic and a drug addict... (I wanted to start this like it was a meeting) when I was in trouble with the law on my way to jail prison or an early grave Chad helped me. the first time we met was 1997 I walked into his office on the advice of my father who was friends with Chad i sat down and he told me to tell him the whole thing and don't lie if I lie he said he would be done with me I told him everything he said to come back the next day I did he said he would help me help myself he said he was not going to get me out of trouble but he would help me get myself out of trouble and then gave me a phone number and told me go to this rehab I did I got into that program 4 nights a week and stayed there after graduating of my own will for years that's what it took after years of using when I was down I knew I could talk to him and he did not get me out of trouble didn't lie for me didn't mislead anybody for me told the judge straight up that I was guilty he also told the judge that I was in rehab and I was attending AA the judge was impressed and gave me 3 years of probation when we exited the courtroom Chad grabbed me by the shoulder after the doors closed he spun me around and poked me in the chest he said if I screwed this up he would put his foot up my butt well maybe he used a different word he helped me and put me on the road to help me live truly live my life to be productive and helped make me a better man after all that and 3 years of probation we became better friends over many years I knew I could talk to him and over the years I would check in and let him know how I was doing he was part of my strength and always pushed me to be better years later when my father passed whenever I visited he always asked how Mom was doing he helped me at that very difficult time in my life I love that man like my dad I could talk to him like my dad they were so very much alike and I will miss him just as much as I miss my dad Chad is one of the most honest people I have ever met he would tell me story's about when he was in college or in the service or when he was in law enforcement he told me of tournaments bowling and tournaments in golf that he had participated in he told me some serious ones and some funny ones but I always loved the stories he told. I'm lucky to have met him and I'm more lucky that he called me friend one thing I didn't mention my wife and I he let us get married in his office he was one of our Witnesses thank you Chad I will miss your wit your wisdom your advice and your stories. Thank you my friend for everything.
