Laura Ruth
De La Rosa
Oct 16, 1964 — Jun 12, 2026
Laura Ruth Morales Romero De La Rosa, 61, entered the presence of the Lord on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., following a courageous six-year battle with Stage IV cancer.
Born on October 16, 1964, in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico, Laura was raised in Cupey Alto alongside her six sisters and four brothers. She graduated high school early with honors while working from the age of 13 and later pursued a variety of professions before becoming a Dental Hygienist Assistant.
At the age of 21, she met the love of her life, Julio César De La Rosa. They married a year and a half later and shared a devoted marriage spanning four decades. Together they raised two sons, César Augusto De La Rosa Morales and César Andrés De La Rosa Morales.
In 1999, Laura relocated with her family to Tampa, Florida, where she worked as a teacher and cook in a preschool serving Latino children. A gifted vocalist, she faithfully served as a lead singer at New Jerusalem Christian Church from 2000 until her retirement in 2020. She also served as host of VIDA 99.1 FM and as a devoted secretary to Apostles Elvin and Miriam Gonzales.
A lifelong student of faith, Laura earned both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Theology and became a respected teacher in churches and Christian institutions.
Laura’s life was defined by her love for God, music, service, family, and friends. Her greatest joys were her two sons and her beloved grandsons, Liam Alexander De La Rosa and Noah Ezequiel De La Rosa.
She is survived by her husband, Julio César De La Rosa; her sons, César Augusto De La Rosa Morales and César Andrés De La Rosa Morales; her grandsons, Liam Alexander De La Rosa and Noah Ezequiel De La Rosa; her brothers and sisters; and numerous extended family members and friends whose lives were touched by her faith, kindness, and unwavering love.
Laura will be remembered as a light in every room she entered, leaving an unmistakable footprint of love, kindness, and beauty upon every life she touched. “
