Ms. Kimberly "Kim" Lynn Hosek's Obituary
Kimberly (Kim) Lynn Hosek went to be with her Lord on June 22, 2024 in Lakeland, FL, with her loving family by her side. Kim was born in Hammond, IN on March 27, 1957, to Virginia Ebert and Henry Hosek.
Kim was a beloved daughter to Henry and Virginia Hosek. She is survived by nephews Chad (Katie) Hosek, Sean (Megan) Hosek, Aunt Susie and Uncle Bob Brossart, Lynda Hosek, and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and brother.
She spent her young life in Crown Point, IN and after high school attended and graduated from Sawyer Business College in Hammond, IN.
Her professional life began after graduation from Sawyer, with a position in the grounds department at Purdue University (Hammond, IN) as a secretary and administrative assistant.
After working several years at Purdue, she moved to Orlando, FL in 1989, to work at Darden Restaurants. She began as secretary to a director in the compensation department. She quickly became a good friend to her new Darden coworkers. Her dedication to her boss, her work, and her coworkers were laced with her openness and humor…which she found in so many situations. Her work ethic, generous nature, and amazing shared sense of humor made her popular with her coworkers. Her thoughtful nature found her providing help and making friends wherever she went.
She held several positions at Darden in a fine career that lasted 25 years. She retired to her Orlando home in 2014.
In her retirement she enjoyed time with her Orlando friends and also enjoyed travelling to Lakeland to spend time with her Aunt Susie and her family.
She and her Orlando “Girl’s Night” friends enjoyed movie going and exploring local restaurants. And then there was Girl’s Night Out…a once a month get together usually in the home of one of eight friends. The Girl’s Nights Out included all manner of themes (holidays and others) that included theme dress up, good food, and always several fun to outrageous photos of the girls. These pics always entertained “The Girls” themselves and anyone who received the shared pictures. Even a printed Girl’s Night theme calendar appeared from time to time. Great fun…over 14 great years with dear friends.
On her visits to Aunt Susie and Uncle Bob in Lakeland, a family crowd would form and she quickly became the center of attention with her sharp genial humorous approach (often sitting as stand-up comedian for several young cousins) addressing whatever was happening or was being discussed. Memories forever. Kim so often kept everyone laughing and guessing what was next.
Kim began her final journey, at peace, looking forward to seeing her mother again. Rest in peace, dear Kim. Your legacy of generous good humor will be cherished forever. A visitation service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 am. The memorial service will follow at 11:00 am. Services will be held at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home (Southside), 1727 Bartow Road, Lakeland, FL 33801.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests you may make a donation to Good Shepherd Hospice, Lakeland, FL.
