Jose Herminio Feliciano-Colon's Obituary
Jose Herminio Feliciano-Colon, 77, passed away peacefully in Lakeland on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
Born on March 27, 1948, in Comerio, Puerto Rico, Jose was the son of Jose Feliciano-Santos and Gladys Colon DeLeon. He resided in Puerto Rico through his early adult years before relocating to the United States for career opportunities.
Jose honorably served his country as a firefighter in the United States Army. Following his military service, he built a career as a telecommunications technician, working with various companies over the years. It was during one of these assignments—installing a line at a local bank—that he met the love of his life, Carmen Morales, then a bank teller. The two were married in 1976.
As a family, Jose, Carmen, and their children lived in several states. After retiring in 2010, Jose and Carmen settled in Lakeland, Florida, in 2012.
Jose enjoyed watching Puerto Rican morning programs and baseball games on TV. After moving to Florida, he became a devoted Tampa Bay Rays fan.
Jose is preceded in death by his parents, son Juan Carlos Feliciano-Morales, and brother Raul Feliciano. He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Carmen, son Jose Feliciano-Morales (Christina), daughter Josely Parada-Feliciano, sister Hilsias Gonzalez-Feliciano, and 5 grandchildren.
A funeral service to honor Jose will be held on Saturday, July 5th at Kathleen Baptist Church in Lakeland. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00AM, followed by service at 11:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made in Jose’s honor to any organization, association, or clinic dedicated to supporting and serving Veterans—a cause close to his heart and reflective of his pride in having served.
