John “Johnny” Van Doorn, 91, passed away on May 28, 2026.
Johnny was born on October 7, 1934, in Chenango Forks, New York, to the late Henry and Dorothy Van Doorn. He proudly served his country for 20 years in the U.S. Army, including during the Vietnam War, and later retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
An avid outdoorsman and athlete, Johnny enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing softball, and maintaining an active lifestyle. He could often be found riding his bicycle or working out, remaining dedicated to his fitness routine until recent years when health challenges limited his ability to do so. Above all, Johnny cherished the time he spent with his family and treasured the memories they created together.
Mr. Van Doorn is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Marcel Van Doorn; his children, Kathy Lashley, Thomas Coulter, Jr., John Coulter, and Charles Coulter; his brothers, Roger, Gerald, and James Van Doorn; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Helen and Irene.
