Lakeland – Joan T. Kimball (Bellamo) passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2018. She was born in The Bronx, NY on July 21, 1939 to Anthony Bellamo and Rose Provenzano Bellamo. Joan graduated from Our Lady of Pity Grammar School. She attended Cathedral High School, and her graduation was held in St. Patrick's Cathedral, in 1957. After graduating from high school, Joan worked for AT&T in Manhattan.
After a courtship that began when they met at the "Ship's Dance" in New York, Joan later married Alton Kimball on November 14, 1959. Alton's Naval career allowed them to live in many locations around the world, including New York City, Houston, Texas and Naples, Italy. After his retirement from the Navy in 1974, Alton and Joan moved to Winter Haven, Florida. Joan worked for 22 years as the school secretary and bookkeeper for St. Joseph's Catholic School in Winter Haven.
Joan was preceded in death by Alton last year in August of 2017. She is survived by her children, Alesia K. Riggall, Steven A. Kimball (Rebecca), Michelle K. Finley; sister, Lorraine Bellamo Avallone; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Joan and Alton lived a lifelong romance, leaving the legacy of a loving family. Joan and Alton are once more united in eternal peace and love.
Joan was a member of Saint Anthony's Catholic Church in Lakeland.
Visitation will be Tuesday, 4:00 – 6:00pm at Gentry Morrison Funeral Home at Serenity Gardens, 3350 Mall Hill Dr. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, 10:30am at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 820 Marcum Rd. Lakeland, FL. Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Condolences to the family may be offered at www.gentry-morrison.com
