Joan Mildred Filsinger (nee Ferris), passed away on August 23, 2024, at age 91, in Lakeland, Florida. She was born in Syracuse, New York, on March 5, 1933.
Joan was a beacon of kindness, and warmth throughout her life, deeply cherished by her family, and all who knew her.
Joan dedicated many years to her family, and community through various roles. These include mother, and homemaker, library aide for the public school system, newspaper delivery person, and her work in the installment loan office of Peoples Bank of Lakeland, from where she retired.
She attended Kathleen United Methodist Church, along with her family, where she found great comfort and community.
Joan loved the outdoors. And this was evident in her hobbies, which included camping, traveling, gardening, and bird watching. Cloud, and sky watching. Butterflies, and sunflowers. She found immense joy in spending time with family. Especially with her grandchildren. Nurturing them with the same love, and care she bestowed upon everyone she met.
