James Butler, born on February 14, 1952, in Ft. Belvoir, Virginia, passed away on August 15, 2026, in Lakeland, Florida. He established a legacy defined by hard work, dedication to family, and a love of adventure.

Throughout his life, James exemplified commitment and diligence, building a career as an iron worker and making significant contributions in various demanding fields. His expertise led him to work in nuclear power, as well as the oil fields of Louisiana and Texas. James was also a proud member of the Orlando 808 Union, demonstrating a strong sense of camaraderie and professionalism with his colleagues.

James honorably served his country as a member of the US Army. 

His appreciation for culture and new experiences took her and his wife to numerous countries around the world, including Spain, Japan, Italy, France, and other European destinations. Whether immersing himself in the art and history he encountered or savoring the diverse cuisines and wine, James found pleasure in travel and sharing these passions with those closest to him.

James considered his family, professional achievements, and shared experiences with loved ones as his proudest accomplishments. He is survived by his devoted wife, Luisa Butler, and his children: Emily Butler, Allison Sanchez, and Fabian Triana. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Blake and Landon.

James is also remembered by his siblings: brothers Terrance, Mark, David, and Chris Butler, and sisters Joan Butler and Susan Butler. He is fondly held in the hearts of his nieces, Carol Manzares and Sarah Jaber.

He was predeceased by his father, John Butler; his mother, Katherine Butler; and his brothers, John and Michael Butler. Their memories remain an integral part of James’s story and the lives he touched.

A memorial gathering will be held in honor of James Butler on August 17, 2026, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes – Southside Chapel, located at 1727 Bartow Road, Lakeland, FL 33803. Family, friends, and colleagues are invited to gather in remembrance and to celebrate the life and legacy of a man whose impact will endure for years to come.
