Iris M. Castro's Obituary
Iris Margarita Castro was born on July 1st, 1942 to Cristiana Figueroa and Felix Jimenez. She was raised in El Fanguito Puerto Rico. She later moved to Chicago Illinois, and has lived in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, Plant City Florida, and Lakeland Florida. She has three daughters Maria, Janet and Nancy, nine grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.
Many remember Iris for her sewing talents and many other creative hobbies. She learned how to sew by practicing on her mom’s sewing machine after school. By the time she was in 9th grade, she had won a sewing competition in Puerto Rico, where her winning dress was displayed throughout the island. She was very generous with her talents and would help others by sewing them many wonderful items like wedding dresses, bridesmaids dresses, prom dresses, quinceanera dresses, baby blankets and more. Her other hobbies include cake baking and decorating, crocheting, and gardening. She was also religious and very involved with her church.
Iris passed away on November 30th, 2025 in Lakeland, Florida with her family nearby. Her body was laid to rest on December 5th, 2025, with a beautiful sermon by a Catholic deacon.
