Gerald “Jerry” Goldsmith, 73
Lakeland – Gerald “Jerry” Steven Goldsmith, 73, passed away at home with his wife by his side, on Sunday, March 1, 2015.
Gerald was born October 3, 1941 in Montclair, New Jersey. He was the son of Irving and Belle Goldsmith. At a young age, his family moved to Lakeland. He graduated from Lakeland High School in 1959. After high school, he was in the United States Navy.
Gerald’s entire career was spent in the jewelry industry. He managed jewelry stores in Nebraska and South Florida. He was a national sales representative for a diamond company out of New York.
In 1978, Gerald married the love of his life, Shirley. Together they founded G & S Fine Jewelers located on Cleveland Heights Blvd. and remained in that location until his retirement in 2013.
Gerald and Shirley enjoyed all of their times together at work, home, and their travels to many Corvette Car shows. He was a lifetime member of the National Corvette Museum.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Irving and Belle Goldsmith and brother, Lloyd Goldsmith.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Shirley (Snapp), sister-in-law, Patricia Snapp Wagner. Also survived by his “furry friends, his kitten children.”
The family will receive visitors from 6 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday evening, March 3, at Gentry Morrison Southside, 1727 Bartow Rd., Lakeland. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, March 4, at 11 am at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Oak Hill Burial Park.
