Obituary

George J. Swackhammer went to be with the Lord on November 2, 2025. He was born on September 21, 1945, Pittsburgh, PA. He was raised in Opa-Locka, Florida.

At the age of 17, George proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he was stationed in California and served honorably as an airplane mechanic during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he made California his home and began a life marked by hard work, generosity, and a deep passion for the things he loved.

One of George's greatest joys was the game of pool. A gifted and knowledgeable player, he shared his expertise with many throughout the years. His love for the game was evident in every match he played and every lesson he gave. Among his students was Bob Pierson, whom George mentored weekly and believed would one day follow in his footsteps as a great player. He took great pride in Bob's growth and success.

Professionally, George worked in the industrial maintenance field, dedicating himself to his craft until his retirement age at 62. George was so proud of his son Carl Shuler, as he also works in, industrial maintenance. He taught Carl a lot about that business. Geoge was proud of the accomplishments of all his children and spoke very highly of them all.

George is survived by his domestic partner, Sue McClelland, and by his loving children: Carl Shuler, Brooke Truhar, Belinda Swackhammer, Marilyn Nelson, Tracy O'Brien and Cindy Nofield. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 22 years, Kitty. He was also preceded in death by his siblings Victor Swackhammer, Judy Addison, Noreen Johns, Linda Warrilow, and Bernadette Harter.

Surviving siblings include John Swackhammer, Sharon Naville, Mike Swackhammer, and Christina Keenan. George will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and the joy he brought to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
