GARY DEAN McCOY, 79 American Safe Driver School

LAKELAND - Mr. Gary Dean McCoy passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016 at his home in Lakeland. He was born November 4, 1936 in Ames, Iowa. Mr. McCoy graduated from the University of Alabama in 1972. He was the owner and operator of American Safe Driver School in Lakeland. Mr. McCoy was also a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and the Audubon Society. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, William and Olive (Brooks) McCoy; his brothers, Millard and Wayne McCoy. Survivors include his wife, Janis Fay McCoy; son, Doug (Patricia) McCoy; daughter, Susan McCoy; sister, Wanda Shepherd; and grandchildren, Brittany, Jay, Mamie and Savannah McCoy. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 3125 W. Socrum Loop Rd., Lakeland, Fl 33810 or Vitas Hospice, 6850 New Tampa Hwy., Suite 600, Lakeland, Fl 33815. A visitation will be Thursday from 10-11 AM at Bethel Baptist Church, with services to follow at 11 00 AM. -
