Faye G. Mayes LAKELAND – Faye Gurlene Mayes, 82, passed away on 5/31/2021. Faye was born in Ray City, GA to parents James and Ethel Pittman on 11/7/1938. She moved to the Lakeland area 74 years ago and has since remained a resident of Polk County. She retired from the Polk County School Board as an elementary school teacher at Winston Elementary, and was a member of Kathleen Baptist Church. Faye is preceded in death by son William Keith Anderson; first husband Morgan Anderson; husband Robert Mayes; brothers Edwin & Gene Pittman; and sister Ruth Kirkland. She is survived by son Ricky (Barbara) Anderson; daughter Lynn (Todd) Cranor; brother Earl (Martha) Pittman; sisters Shirley Huff & Virginia Holt;11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 3 great great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Thursday 6/3 from 5-6PM at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, Serenity Gardens Chapel, 3350 Mall Hill Drive. Service will follow at 6PM. Committal will take place at Oak Hill Burial Park on Friday 6/4 at 10AM.
