The memory just shared by Jean Jones was from Jeannie Carter. I forgot to include my maiden name for those friends that might not have recognized me as Jones.
The story I am going to share happened when Emmitt & I were both teenagers. We grew up a few blocks apart on Hwy 50 in Mascotte- we lived at the top of the hill, his family at the bottom. One night Emmitt convinced me to sit on the handlebars of his bicycle & we rode up & down Hwy 50 in & out of traffic. Needless to say I was totally petrified & kept begging him to end my torture but, of course, my pleas fell on deaf ears. I really had to go to the bathroom but even that didn’t convince him to stop & let me off the bike. Eventually he scared me so badly that it wasn’t necessary to let me off the bike - it was too late. From that night on I had a new nickname at school. All my close friends began calling me Jeannie “P” or shortened it to just “P”. To this day many of my old high school friends still use my nickname when talking to me- it has stuck through all these years. I owe this nickname to Emmitt & look back on that night with fond memories & grateful that we were not run over by a car or truck. He was a great friend & he will be missed by all. His family was fortunate to have such a great man in their lives & my heart is sad for all. I posted this memory because I found it humorous just as I’m sure he did & I sincerely hope no one was offended because no offense was intended. He is now resting with the Angels in heaven & at peace with God. Amen
