Doris Russell Yerton
Lakeland – Mrs. Doris Russell Yerton passed away on Wednesday August 31, 2016 from cardiac complications. All family and friends should be comforted knowing that she is in the presence of the Lord in Heaven. Doris loved and cared for everyone she came to know and will remain in our hearts forever.
She was born March 2, 1931 in Concord, NC to the late Forest and Irma Russell. She attended Pfeiffer College in NC.
Doris met fellow Concord resident/sweetheart. Harold Yerton. They dated, then married and moved to Lakeland, FL in 1952. Within four and a half years, they had three sons. Her life was faithfully dedicated to raising them and making their house a loving home. Over the years they traveled and enjoyed entertaining family and close friends in their Lakeland home and in vacation homes in the North Carolina mountains, Longboat Key and Clermont, FL.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and recently, her younger sister. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Harold Yerton, who since 1977 owned and operated Yerton Leasing & Auto Sales in Lakeland until his retirement. Their sons currently own & operate the business. Other survivors include sons Kris (Teresa) Yerton, Russell (Lisa) Yerton, Kim (Lisa) Yerton; brother, Jack (Atha) Russell; seven grandchildren, Kyle (Laura) Yerton, Nathan, Erica, Link, Kendall, Madison and Austin Yerton.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Sept. 6th from 12:00 – 1:00pm at Church at The Mall, 1010 W. Memorial Blvd. Funeral services will begin at 1:00pm and interment will follow at Lakeland Memorial Gardens. Family requests as an option to flowers, donations can be made to Church at the Mall, Lakeland, FL. Arrangements by Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home at Serenity Gardens.
