Obituary

David Gene Thrasher, 78 On Friday, March 14th, David Thrasher, surrounded by family, was called to his eternal home to be with the Lord. David was born on May 25th, 1946, to Arthur Roy & Jeanette Thrasher in Plant City, FL. He was one of seven children, and he grew up in Plant City until the age of 13, when his father passed away. A year later the family moved to Lakeland. He met the love of his life, Sheena, at a very young age of 17 and after a short courtship, they married on December 1st, 1963, in a small chapel in Nahunta, GA. They were blessed with a long marriage of 53 years until her passing, yet his love and devotion to her never wavered and he remained faithful to her until his last breath. David spent over 50 years working in the phosphate mining industry. He was a welder/maintenance mechanic for most of those years and retired as a maintenance planner from Mosaic at the age of 67. He loved spending time outdoors, whether fishing on the water, riding an airboat, hunting, or tending to his garden. He was a talented man with a gift for fixing just about anything. He was a man of few words but immense love, always putting others before himself. His heart of gold shined through his actions, and he was known for his selflessness and unwavering support for those he cared about. The greatest joy of his life was his family. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren deeply, always striving to provide for and protect them. A true doer, David never complained and found joy in helping others, whether it was fixing something, lending a hand, or simply being there when needed. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He was proceeded in death by his dad and mom, Arthur Roy and Jeanette Thrasher, bonus dad, Walter Alexander, his sisters, Joyce Cox and Francis Ford and his loving wife, Sheena. He is survived by his only brother, Dennis Alexander and three sisters Betty Graddy, Kathy Driskell & Sarah (David) Smith; his son, Paul Thrasher; daughters, Paula (Ronnie) Keel; Shawn (Steve) Dunning; grandchildren, Courtney, Cody, Trey, Dakoda, Abbi, Carter & Derek; great-grandchildren, Paisley, Charlie, JW & Blake.
