David L.
Middleton
March 7, 1946 – February 28, 2024
David Lynn Middleton, 77, went to his eternal reward from his residence on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. He was born on March 7, 1946 in Muskegon, MI, to Harold and Helen (Davidson) Middleton. He lived for the last five years in Lakeland, FL. David was married to Marilyn (Zook) Middleton for the last 55 years. He enjoyed his life's calling to Missions and telling others about Jesus.
He was saved at a very young age, and soon after, he felt the Lord calling him to be a missionary. As a child, his mother explained to him that this calling would be for when he was grown and had completed his studies.
David was an ordained minister with the Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Connection. His first pastorate was in Buckhannon, WV (1969-1973). He then spent six years as a missionary working in Peru. In interim years, he was a pastor at Highland Park, North Canton, OH, (1986-1988) and Tarentum, PA, (1992-1994.) Most of his life and until retirement, David worked for Evangelistic Faith Mission in the Dominican Republic and Cuba. He learned to love these people as family, and was happy he could still have contact with them in these last years through modern technology. Only heaven will reveal the lives that were changed by his ministry.
He is survived by his three children, David (Jeri) Middleton, Melody (Tony) Guevara, and Michelle (Victor) Philpot, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Avis Lawson, a brother Harold (Linda) Middleton and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Evangeline, two brother-in-laws and a sister-in-law.
A celebration of life service will be held at the Iglesia Evangelica de Santidad/God's Missionary Church, 306 West Patterson Street, Lakeland, Florida 33803, on Thursday, March 14th. The church will be open for visitation at 10 a.m. The service will begin at 11 a.m. His remains will be placed in a local memorial garden: Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes.
