Curtis Lafayette Boles, 83, passed away on September 21, 2026, in Iowa Park, Texas. He was born on July 15, 1943, in Elba, Alabama.

Curtis graduated from Lakeland High School and went on to enlist in the United States Air Force. He served his country for four years. After his military service he moved back to Lakeland and married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life Bonnie. Over the course of his working life, he became well known in the roofing industry, working for several different roofing material suppliers and also for himself. His final position in that field was as Manager of Operations at Fisher & Floyd Roofing in Lake Wales, Florida, where he worked alongside his beloved friend and owner, Bruce Floyd. After retiring, Curtis returned to the workforce as a security officer for the JCPenney warehouse in Lakeland, continuing there until his wife’s health began to fail and he chose to remain close to her.

A selfless family man, Curtis was a beloved husband and father who treasured time with those he loved most. In his younger years, he enjoyed bird hunting as well as deer and hog hunting. He also loved spending weekends fishing with his family in Steinhatchee, Florida. He was a devoted fan of Florida Gator football and NASCAR. He served on the Building Committee at Faith Baptist Church in Lakeland during the construction of the church’s present sanctuary. He was a member of Green Pond Baptist Church in Polk City, FL. 

Nothing brought Curtis greater pride than his grandchildren. He was always there to support them in the activities and milestones of their lives, and he was deeply loved in return. In his final days, he was surrounded by that love while staying in Texas at the home of his only granddaughter, Lacey.

Curtis was preceded in death by his wife and soulmate of 50 years, Bonnie Mae Combee Boles; his parents, Leroy and Willie Kate Boles; and his brothers, Roy Boles and Ronnie Boles.

He is survived by his daughters, Denise Callahan and Katie Sadler (husband Chris) his son, Billy Boles (wife Penny) his grandchildren, Guy Callahan (wife Mandy), Jerrad Boles (wife Sarah), CJ Sadler (wife Emma), and Lacey Proffitt (husband Todd) and his sisters, Brenda Evans (husband Fred), and Linda Kent (husband Harley). 5 great grandchildren, Jasper, Cooper, Tymber, Tanner and Wylie. And many beloved nieces and nephews who all loved him as “Uncle Fet”. He leaves behind a family who knew his steady love, his faithful support, and the joy he took in being present for them through every season of life.

Curtis Lafayette Boles will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his years of hard work, his service to his country, and the kindness and steadiness that marked his life.
