Thank you for the many stories of your good ol days. You were a character that's forsure you and papa. Dealing with the loss of you is hard but you taught me cant never could. You also taught me some absurd things like granny's way of spelling Mississippi I'll forever chuckle when I explain it to anyone. I already miss yelling at the great greats "move out granny's chair" or hearing "watch ya toes girly" as you pass by with every child's favorite seat in the house (granny's walker). You're loved beyond words and I'm blessed to have had you as my granny for as long as I did. Enjoy all the greats of country music even more so papa till we meet again. -lexi.
Even Though i wasnt your real granddaughter you sure made me feel like one for the last 10 years. I loved your story and kust sitting and watching your shows with you im glad i got to spend alot of time with you the past few months. Im gonna miss you dearly but i know your watching down on all of us.
I picked her birthday card from Mel and me just a few weeks ago that had two pups on the front and said "Happy Birthday to Mom from the two of us - one you raiised and the other you got by luck!" In reality, I was the lucky one! I got the handsome and talented son who she raised to be warm, caring, loving and passionate about life. But just as importantly, I got a new Mom who was the matriarch of a welcoming and loving family who she taught to respect and care for anyone who crossed her threshold. She was not wealthy by any means so all she had to give were kind words, a loving smile, a warm hug, and assurances that I was family, too. but that was worth more than all the treasures on this earth. I will truly miss seeing Clara sitting by her chair in front of the picture window and hearing her answer the phone "yello!". Life just won't be the same without my other Mom!
