Charles Edward Richardson's Obituary
Charles Edward Richardson, a lifelong resident of Lakeland, Florida, entered the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 26, 2025, at the age of 82. Born in Lakeland on November 21, 1943, Charles was one of eleven children—seven sons and four daughters—born to Noah and Daisy Richardson.
From an early age, Charles learned the value of hard work alongside his father and brothers, taking on a variety of jobs that shaped his strong work ethic and humble character. He attended Kathleen High School, later completed his GED, and continued his education at Polk Community College.
In the spring of 1965, Charles met the love of his life, Brenda Sue Seabolt, at North Florida Heights Baptist Church. The two were married shortly thereafter in June of 1965 by Rev. Frank Farris, beginning what would become a beautiful and devoted 60-year marriage. Brenda fondly described him as “the most wonderful man in the world.”
In early 1966, Charles entered the U.S. Army, serving honorably in the 1st Signal Brigade, Company A, 36th Signal Battalion during the Vietnam War until the end of 1967. His service reflected his deep sense of duty, loyalty, and quiet strength.
After returning home, Charles entered the construction trades. By the early 1980s, he helped found C & C and Son Enterprises with his partner, Calvin Hodges. Specializing first in block and brick work and later becoming highly sought after in the concrete field, Charles built a respected career marked by integrity, craftsmanship, and dedication until his retirement.
A faithful and devoted member of Northside Baptist Church, Charles served his church family and community with humility and kindness. His faith was the steady foundation of his life.
Growing up near the Carpenters’ Home golf course, Charles became a lifelong golfer. He often shared his favorite memory of briefly caddying for the legendary Bobby Jones during a visit to the course. Yet it was on the water where he felt most at peace, spending many early mornings speck fishing with his friends or grandchildren—moments that brought him great joy.
Charles cherished his family above all. He welcomed his children, Charles Scott Richardson (Chanda) and Charlsie Lynn Short (Josh), into the world and later embraced his role as PawPaw with immense pride. He is survived by his eight grandchildren—Cagan Richardson, Allyn Minnick, Logan Richardson, Moira Richardson, Marley Short, Charlie Short, Knox Short, and Tenny Short—and four great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his beloved wife Brenda Sue and by his siblings, of whom several remain living. He was preceded in death by his parents, Noah and Daisy Richardson; five brothers—Lavaughn, Bobby, Chester, Johnny, and Jerry; and one sister, Nancy.
Charles lived a life marked by faith, hard work, love, and quiet devotion. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the family he cherished, and the countless lives he touched.
