Charles Walter Paulin

Charles Walter Paulin of Lakeland, Florida, received his heavenly reward on the morning of his 88th birthday – July 25, 2026. A man of committed and faithful service to his Savior, his family, and his work, he leaves behind a profound legacy of loyalty and responsibility. He was a dedicated member of the South Florida Avenue Church of Christ for over 60 years, and a proud Publix truck driver for almost 40 years – crisscrossing the state for over two million miles without ever receiving a traffic ticket, being involved in an accident, or calling out sick for even a single day. As a driver, he was known and respected by his peers as simply one of the best.

Charles is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara, and their children Charles Stacey Paulin (Michelle) of Lakeland, Rene’ Paulin Bingle (Jeff) of Lakeland, and Kevin Walter Paulin of Winder, GA, as well as their devoted grandchildren Marissa Estridge (Josh) of Lakeland, Charles Casey Paulin (Emily) of Martin, TN, Heidi Rhymes (Ty) of Florence, AL, and Kyle Bingle of Lakeland, in addition to their precious great grandchildren Maddox and Tanner Estridge, Drake Rhymes, and Charles Miller Paulin. The family would also like to acknowledge Kathy Thornhill Sweeney of Lakeland, and Joey Bowman of Maryville, TN, as “honorary siblings” for their unwavering love and dedication over many decades.

Charles’s passing is preceded by that of his parents Clyde and Hazel Paulin of Mulberry Grove, IL, and his only sibling Helen Brewer of Pocahontas, IL.

Finally, it is with deep gratitude and appreciation that we recognize Melody Franklin of Helping Hands for the three years of exceptional and gracious in-home care she provided to both Charles and Barbara. Similarly, we are grateful for the numerous compassionate and attentive staff members of Hawthorne Inn and Good Shepherd Hospice Care for their assistance.

A memorial service is being held at the Church of Christ, 1807 South Florida Avenue, Lakeland, at 11 am on Thursday, July 30. Interment to follow at Lakeland Memorial Gardens. If you would like to make a charitable donation in Charles’ name, you are welcome to do so at www.FSOP.net.
