What a horrible loss. This family has been in my thoughts constantly, especially his sweet little daughter. I was Blane's English teacher for 10th and 11th grade. Blane was a true character who always had jokes for us. I remember his pictures of his dogs and how much he loved them. He always had a story to share about hunting or some other country boy activities. He loved to walk around between classes playing old music from the 1970s on his phone. He absolutely did not care what other people thought; he was confidant and joyful. We talked often about the day he would take over for Grady Judd. I wish I still had the poem he wrote about Grady. It was so bittersweet seeing the plaque that Grady had made for him at the service. Blane often talked about the Bible and Jesus, so I have to believe he is at peace. I will do my part to make sure Blane's memory lives on at our school.
Blane, I will never forget you. Thank you for always making me laugh. You should have had a long, happy life. I'm so sorry we lost you so young. I will never understand why you were taken this way. -Mary Packard Baision
My very sincere condolences to Blane's loving family and friends. The keepsake hour video of his remarkable life brought tears to my eyes, wish I had had the honor and pleasure of meeting him. I'm from Tifton, Ga and I didn't know this young man or his family. I want to give my condolences to his family, friends and his Polk county sheriffs office family. From everything I've heard and read he was a special young man with a bright future ahead of him. He sounds like the epitome of what a law enforcement officer should be. Thank you Deputy Blane Lane for giving the ultimate sacrifice. RIP. Prayers for everyone who knew this young man.

On January 12th, 2001 I finally became Aunt and I was excited because I had made my siblings Aunt's andUncle's 1st. You were such a happy baby and through your teenage years and you're adulthood you remained the same. You had the biggest smile that could light up any room that you walked in and at our family get togethers, you kept us entertained with guitar playing and singing and you're joking. You loved your family and you showed it every time we were around. I was so proud of you when you became a deputy and even though I couldn't be there when you were sworn in I posted your pictures with pride and let everybody know how proud I was for my nephew. I'll never forget one day we were driving with your grandpa and I can't remember where we were going but we passed the YMCA down the road from grandpa's house and there was a Hillsborough County Sheriff Dodge Charger and you begged grandpa to stop so you could get a picture standing beside it and he did and you had the biggest smile on your face. After that you couldn't wait for that picture to be developed and from then on you said I'm gonna be a Sheriff. Our family is not gonna be the same without you and you will truly be missed. I love you forever, my sweet nephew 🖤💙
