Barbara Faye Brock was lovingly welcomed into Heaven on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 in Lakeland, Florida. Born on October 18, 1935, in Eufaula, Oklahoma, she was the cherished daughter of John and Gracie (Stevens) Holloway along with her five siblings. On September 14, 1957, Barbara married Grady Brock in Reno, Nevada. They were blessed with two children: Velina (Gail) and Cameron. Affectionately known as Granny Barbara to her five grandchildren, (Henry Niel, Heather, Emily, Lance and Cade), and Gigi to her ten great-grandchildren, (Gavin, Bella, Tye, Brayden, Leeland, Berkleigh, Fletcher, Charleston, Brighton and Lyla) she left a legacy of love and warmth that will be remembered by all. Barbara was an active member of Lakes Church, where she enjoyed participating in Bible studies with her Connect Group class. She worked as a secretary at Florida Southern College for 46 years until her retirement. Known for her famous brownie pies and her signature hand-on-the-hip pose, Barbara loved getting her hair and nails done with her daughter and enjoying Sunday lunches after church with her son. She found great joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren, whether it was on family vacations, annual beach trips, Caribbean cruises, camping or visits to the West Coast. She particularly loved reading cartoons to her great-grandchildren and cheering them on at the soccer and football field. Barbara was a dependable and faithful presence in the lives of her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady, and is survived by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The celebration of Barbara's life will take place on Monday, March 24th at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes, Southside Chapel. Her family will receive visitors at 10am, with the service beginning at 11am. The family expresses their gratitude for the outpouring of love from all those whose lives Barbara touched. If inclined, memorial donations may be made to Lakes Church, Grace Manor at Lake Morton, and Good Shepherd's Hospice in her honor.
