Avannah "Marlene"
Collier
July 22, 1945 – February 4, 2026
Avannah "Marlene" Collier, age 80, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026. Born to Dallas and Maebell Murphy in Lakeland, Florida, on July 22, 1945, Marlene spent her life deeply rooted in the community she loved. She was a proud graduate of Kathleen High School and later married the love of her life, Bobby Collier, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and devotion.
Marlene found happiness in life's simple pleasures - working in her garden, reading, cooking, and creating a home filled with warmth and love. Above all, she treasured time with her family. Her kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew her. As a devoted mother, grandmother, and great‑grandmother, Marlene poured her heart into her family and leaves behind a legacy of love that will be cherished forever.
For many years, Marlene worked alongside Joker Marchant at the City of Lakeland, as well as within the insurance industry, where she formed lifelong friendships and earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends. Whether through her work, her home, or her quiet acts of kindness, Marlene made those around her feel valued and loved.
Marlene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bobby Collier, as well as her brothers James Murphy and Ralph Murphy.
Marlene is survived by her children, Brent Collier (wife Sonya) and Allyson Ellis (husband Blair); her grandchildren, Ryan Collier (wife Shannon), Morgan Collier, Brandon Collier, Ethan Collier (wife Audri), and Peighton Ellis; her great‑grandchildren, Benjamin Collier and Jesse Collier; and her brother Leonard Murphy (wife Talara).
Family and friends are invited to share memories, photos, and messages of love here as we celebrate Marlene's life and the beautiful impact she had on all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Marlene's memory.
