It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Antonio Jesus Dominguez, age 80, on May 22, 2026.

Tony came to the United States when he was only fourteen years old. He graduated from Miami Beach Senior High School in 1964, where he was a member of the football team.

Tony graduated from the Police Academy in 1970, and became a Miami Beach Police Officer serving the citizens of Miami Beach until his retirement in 1996. During this time, he founded the Hispanic Law Enforcement Association in September of 1990 and served as President of the association. He also started the first bilingual paper.

Tony married Janet Dominguez in 1982, and he is survived by his wife, his son Todd Stevenson, and his grandson Phoenix Stevenson.

After retiring from Miami Beach Police, Tony embarked on a position working as an investigator for the Florida State Attorney’s Office until January of 2006. After retiring for the second time, Tony moved to Lakeland, Florida with his family.

Tony’s favorite place to be was in the waters off of Marathon Key where many a fish tale were told. Whether he was in the water spearing giant hogfish, reeling in yet another dolphin, or just tinkering on his boat, he was truly in his element and happiest in the Florida Keys.

Tony also had a fierce love for canines. It has been said that many of Tony’s dogs enjoyed a life that most humans would envy.

Tony served his community with honor and is a shining example to his family. He touched many lives and we will miss him greatly.

His funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 2nd at 11:00am at Serenity Gardens Chapel located at 3550 Mall Hill Drive Lakeland, Florida.
