Otis D Shumate

December 26, 1946 - March 6, 2022

Otis D Shumate of Auburndale, Florida passed away surrounded by his loved ones on March 6, 2022. Otis was born to parents Ed and Pearl Shumate on December 26, 1946, in Winter Haven, Florida. He was definitely a Florida boy born and raised in the sun. Afte high school Otis was proud to spend 6 years in the Army Reserves. He loved cars, and trucks, and turned this love of trucks into a business. He was the owner and operator of his own trucking company. It was a lot of hard work, but he made it happen! In his spare time, he loved to be out boating among the waves, and he loved spending hours restoring old cars. The most important thing to Otis however was spending time with his dearest friends and family. Otis is preceded in death by his parents Ed and Pearl Shumate, five of his brothers Carmon, Lester, Lewis, Billy, and Bobby. He was also predeceased by one sister Shelby. Otis leaves behind a loving family, and many faithful friends. He is survived by his beautiful wife Bobbie Shumate of Auburndale. His daughter Pam (Tim) Dykes of Auburndale. His son Devaughn (Jennifer) Shumate of Auburndale. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Cody (Alauna) of Auburndale, Cady (Jordan) of Auburndale. Abby (Mikey) of Auburndale, and Jake of Auburndale. Otis leaves behind a wonderful legacy in his five great grandchildren. Kaylyn, Stetson, Maverick, Elijah, and Kylie all of whom reside in Auburndale Florida. He is also survived by one brother Victor (Wanda) Shumate of Auburndale. Otis was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
