Mary D Wilson
April 12, 1930 - October 1, 2021
Mary D. Wilson was peacefully escorted by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 1, 2021, to her eternal home. Our earthly angel finally gained her heavenly wings. Mary was born in Avon Park, FL on April 12, 1930, to Horace and Vicie Basemore. She moved to Frostproof after marrying the love of her life, Grady Wilson, where they raised their two sons. She enjoyed singing and directing the choir at the First United Methodist Church and spent many hours at the ball field cheering on her husband and boys. She is preceded in death by her late husband, Grady, their son, Murray Wilson, grandson, Lance Wilson, and her three sisters, Joyce Clark, Marie Cox, and Patricia Backus. She is survived by her son, Mark Wilson (Gail), four grandchildren, Tricia Harper (Scott), Elise Wilson, Kayla Church (John), and Paul Wilson (Brooke), six great-grandchildren (Lauren, Savanna, Jace, Kamryn, Trey, and Silas) along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Mary, who was so fondly called Mimi, enjoyed 91 amazing years close to her family and friends. She lived her life loving others, pointing people to Jesus, and always ended conversations with “love you more”. Her favorite things to do all revolved around celebrating her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She especially loved reading to “her kids”, taking her evening walks, braiding the girls’ hair, and swinging underneath the backyard oak tree. Her bright smile, loving spirit, and Southern grace and charm were felt by every person who came across her path, even if for just a few moments. The world is a better place for having had Mary D. Wilson (Mimi) in it. Well done, good and faithful one. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, October 8th at First United Methodist Church in Frostproof, Florida- 150 Devane Street. Guests are welcome to visit and offer condolences to the family at 10:30am. The service will begin at 11:30am with a private, family burial following. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the West Central Florida chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, to which she graciously supported for over 10 years.
