LAKELAND, Fla. ― Mary Lee Olson, 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Dec. 25, 2021 at The Estates at Carpenters in Lakeland. A private burial was held Monday, Jan. 10, 2022, at the Garden of Peace, Serenity Gardens, Lakeland, Fla. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Mrs. Olson was born May 20, 1932, in Indianapolis, a daughter of Lawrence and Ava Kidwell Henry. She married Robert Elmer Olson on Nov. 28, 1958, at the Meridian Church of God, Indianapolis. Survivors include her husband, of Lakeland, Fla.; her son, John (wife Cecile) of Sariaya, Philippines; her sister, Martha Ann Fouts of Indianapolis; her brother-in-law, Alan (wife Jeannine) Olson of Morgan Hill, Calif.; step-grandson, Joshua (wife Sybelle) Jael of Heartland, Texas; nieces, Cynthia Pringle of Tuscola, Ill.; Becky Bassak of Lafayette, Calif.; Liesl Olson of Oakland, Calif.; nephews, David Olson of Spirit Lake, Idaho; and Mark Olson of Okinawa, Japan. Other survivors include cousins Marvin Henry of Terre Haute, Ind.; Mike Henry of Bloomington, Ind.; and Mina Cross of Indianapolis, Ind. Mrs. Olson was preceded in death by her parents. She graduated in 1952 from Southport High School, Indianapolis, and then to the Cook County School of Nursing in Chicago, graduating in 1957. Mrs. Olson worked as a registered nurse for five years before becoming a full-time mother. Upon retirement, Mrs. Olson and her husband moved from Glen Ellyn, Ill., to Lakeland, Fla. The Olsons enjoyed traveling around the country and overseas to organ conventions. Mrs. Olson loved music. She also enjoyed painting landscapes and pictures of their pets as a hobby.
