Clarence Baker

August 6, 1941 - May 2, 2021

Clarence Baker of Lakeland Florida went home to be with The Lord on May 2nd, 2021 while surrounded by those who loved him dearly. He was 79 years old and was born in Kathleen, Florida to Arlington and Elizabeth Baker. He retired from Ricoh Corporation as a Electronic Technician Shop Supervisor where he taught new techs how to repair computers, copiers, printers, calculators, and other electronic devices over his many years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he drove tanks and jeeps during his service. He was a part of the 2nd Heavy Tank Battalion 33rd Armor Division and especially enjoyed his time in Aschaffenburg, Germany where he was able to develop friendships and learned some of the German language. He was known for still remembering one full sentence in German, which always drove Barbara (his wife) nuts. He was very proud and dedicated to both God and country. He proudly displayed the American and Army flags at home and on his truck, shirts, hats, and jackets. He enjoyed working with wood on cars/trucks, and anything electronic. He built everything you can think of wood-wise, but it always had to be "just right". He had a vast knowledge of how to fix almost anything. Clarence loved teaching the Bible in nursing homes, churches, Sunday schools, and to anyone who would listen. He also enjoyed singing Christian music and hymns. He loved listening and singing to Country music. He would even sing little tunes that he made up and sing to the family. He also loved to dance and he was very good at it. The man could boogie! He is survived by his wife of 43 years Barbara (aka his Barbie), his son Michael, daughter Ashley, son-in-law Timothy (who he considered his second son), Two grandchildren Nathaniel and Amanda, siblings Ruth, Jim, Joyce, Marge (who he considered a sister), Delores and Katherine, and several nieces and nephews.
