This is my father. If weren't for this man my children and I wouldn't be here. Even though he didn't raise me, I am what I am today because of him. I found him when I was 23 years old and flew down to Florida with my daughter Kenzie to meet him and my younger sister Tara Griner 6 months later. What a rollercoaster of emotions that trip was. In 2010 I lost my Daddy, the man who married my Mom, adopted me, and raised me. 11 months later my father flew to New York and stayed with us for 2 months and got to meet my family and see where I grew up. We stayed in touch over the phone over the years and you always think there will be more time to visit, someday, but for us someday didn't come soon enough. I'm so sorry I wasn't able to make it down to say goodbye. I love you Dad, rest easy in paradise where you are no longer a prisoner in a body that didn't do what you wanted it to. Hi Tara ! Although I've told you very often, I just wanted to say again, how very proud I am of you, and the way you've done "an about face" with your life; the love and un-endless attention shown to your family and others over the years ! SUPER MOM, I call you !
When I look back over the years, it's hard to believe ALL that's happened...good and bad...happy and sad; but we've all weathered the storms well ! Already, Rocky and I miss him SO much ! I guess I took for granted, that the daily calls would never end; the same jokes shared repeatedly, fond memories from our past; and yet, even now, when my phone rings late at night or early in the morning, for a brief moment, I look at the phone, hoping it would be him, just one more time !
I just wanted you to know again and again, how very proud he was of you; the pride of his life...and when I would reflect on the grandkids, and how they've matured and blossomed through the years in conversations with him, his eyes would swell with tears, and his voice tremble with pride, always giving YOU the credit for being such a wonderful Mom and daughter; the "Apple of his eye" !

Dean was a funny, kind, and a sweet man who loved his kids and grandchildren dearly. I met him approximately 20 years ago through his daughter Tara Griner. We had a lot of good times together.
R.I.P Dean you will be missed!
I'm so sorry to learn of Dean's passing. I have such great memories of the Griner family growing up. Know you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
