I miss our dear friend Roger MeGee
Although we only knew Roger four years, it felt as though we had known him a lifetime

Roger was kind, generous, loved his family fiercely and was fun to be with, we learned so much about Sailing and life from him.

Through the years as we learned more about Roger, Sailing was clearly his passion outside of his family, we are blessed to have shared so much time with him

Roger has crossed the bar for the final time, he is off to sea, we miss you my friend

Tari, Ashley, and Kevin...Our thoughts & prayers go out to all of you and the Megee family. Roger was top shelf and stranger to nobody. One of my fondness memories with Roger was our rafting trip to WVA, and showing how the old bucks can hang with the young bucks (our sons). "May the seas lie smooth before you. My life has been enriched and much better for having known Roger and I'm honored to say that he was my friend. Learned a thing or 2 about sailing from Roger, he was always willing to help me with my sailboat. On days when I was working on my boat, and not able to go sailing with him, he would ask if my dog Sadie could go with him. Sometimes I think he liked Sadie more than he liked me. I will miss you my friend.

Roger and Tari were great neighbors of ours in Portage, Michigan. My husband and I got to know Roger as a very kind, loving family man, and fun to be with. We especially liked to hear all about his sailing adventures with his wife, Tari. My husband, Walt, being a Navy Veteran, was fascinated by these tales. We even were invited to sail on Lake Michigan with them. We have fond memories of our fine neighbors, and express our sincere sympathy to Tari and the family. We pray that the loving memories that you have of Roger will bring you comfort.

I was fortunate enough to get to know Roger when I was in college with Marty. Some of the best times we had was when we would meet Roger in Kentucky to go to Keeneland, explore Lexington, party & enjoy each other’s company. I’m a better person for having become friends with the MeGee family & Roger. My condolences to all of you & God bless you!

In 2017, I started my boating journey to Florida and the Bahamas. My first stop was in Beaver Island. After I anchored, this guy from another anchored boat drives over in his dinghy and asks, "Where are you going?" When I tell him, he responds, "So are we!" For the next 9 months we were buddy boats. When you look up the definition of gregarious, it says, "Roger Megee"

One of the things that really stands out in my mind when I think of my Maternal 1st Cousin, Roger is how devoted to his family and friends that he was! He was a really an all around great guy. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend. He was a kind, loving, and selfless human being that devoted his life to the love of family and friends. You have left a lasting impression on all who knew you. RIP dear cousin. It is truly hard to believe you are gone.

So thankful for my uncle Roger and for all the memories from being a kid visiting them on the lake, playing cards and sitting around the table at Granny’s to more recent memories as his role of uncle changed to grandpa for my kids. He was always beaming to see the girls on FaceTime or his yearly visits helping me pick them up from school and letting them climb all over him. He always enjoyed accompanying us on spring break trips on the boat. My husband valued his boating wisdom and enjoyed his company very much! We will miss him immensely.
