Patricia Collins Smith, 93, passed peacefully in her sleep on December 26, 2021. Pat was born on June 8, 1928, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the oldest child of Isaac Clinton Collins III and Sarah Amy Meakin Collins. She graduated from Duk Read Obituary
Despite our age difference, I consider Pat one of my dearest friends. From the time we moved to Lakeland, over 20 years ago, she and Sherwood made us feel like we were family, and right at home in their favorite living room. I treasure my memories, and will miss Pat so much! I wish I were well enough to attend her services, but I send our deepest love to all of the Smith family, and pray for your comfort in this great loss. What a marvelous thing it is to know that Pat's absence is merely temporary, and although we can no longer see her among us, we can feel her, for she lives on, and no doubt will continue her work on the other side of helping to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man. God speed, my friend, until we meet again. <3
Judy Robinson (mom) and I so wanted to attend the funeral for Pat, but alas, Sandra (Sandy) got covid! We send our love to a family that has been such a staple in our lives, even mine at a younger age! The last memory I have of Pat was serving in the Orlando temple as I was a patron. She always had so much character and spunk. I know she has been welcomed with open arms by her husband and she will be busy about her work. A beautiful daughter of God!
When I was a teenager, there was no better place to be than the Smith home. Sherwood and Pat were both great examples to me. They treated me as one of their own, and I will never forget the Sunday School lessons, the family home evenings, the interview I did with her, washing her car, and the pizza that was always in her freezer and available to whomever wanted it. I read books from her bookcases when I went to the Smith home for parties. (Crazy, I know!) She was the best Jeopardy player I ever knew! She knew EVERYTHING.
She created a place that everyone wanted to be, and it made my teenage years happier. It was an honor to know her. It is an honor to know her children because of her.
