The first time I met Charlie was when Lianne (his daughter) and I were dating. We were sitting down to eat and he insisted I sit at the head of the table. When I went to pull out the chair the top decorative piece came out in my hand and without missing a beat, Charlie said: "you are going to have to pay for that!," followed immediately by his infectious laughter. Welcome to the family.
Charlie was a man who, when you first met him you knew he was your friend. Within 5 mins you found out he would rather talk about what interested you, and in 10 minutes you knew he was a good man. In 15 minutes you found out he would give you the shirt off his back. The world would be a better place if we all followed his example on how to be a father, grandfather and great-grandfather and friend. He was a good man who left a great mark on the world.
